Panic Attacks

Intense, often debilitating fear from a normal situation can escalate into what is known as a panic attack. Panic attacks are sudden, unexpected periods of intense, debilitating fear where the affected person has a similar reaction as if confronted by a lion. These attacks usually peak within 10 minutes but can feel like a lot longer to those experiencing them.

Signs and Symptoms of panic attacks:

extreme anxiety often accompanied by rapid pulse.
sweat profusely.
tremble.
heart pounding, dizziness,
hot or cold flashes.
chest pain.
Feeling of having a heart attack.
weakness.
weakness.

Tips to cure panic attack:

Breathe deep and try to RELAX.
Close eyes for a few moments.
Practice mindfulness.
Go to a serene/happy place.
Try to be positive.
Improve relationships with family and friends.
Establish a stable, routine/ change old habits.
Understand why things bother you and what you can do about the them.

Eat regular meals to stabilise your blood sugar levels.
Avoid caffeine, alcohol and smoking – these can make panic attacks worse.
